If you answered yes, then you may be struggling with depression.  We at Capitol Psychological Assessment can help.

What is Depression?

Depression is a common and serious mental health disorder that negatively affects a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Individuals with a depressive disorder may notice persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, and worthlessness. They may also experience fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and loss of interest in normally enjoyed activities. At times, depression can increase a person’s thoughts of death or suicide. Depression can interfere with daily activities and reduce a person’s ability to function. Fortunately, treatment for depression can be highly effective.

What can therapy do for me?

Psychotherapy is an effective treatment for depression. Psychotherapy offers a safe and confidential space to discuss personal issues without fear of judgment or repercussions. Psychotherapy can teach you healthy coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges in your life. Psychotherapy can improve your interpersonal relationships and understanding of yourself, including your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Our providers use research based and supportive approaches to therapy that aim to help individuals identify any negative patterns of thinking or behavior that contribute to depression. Treatment for depression often involves a combination of therapies, medications, and lifestyle changes. Our providers can help with referrals to psychiatrist and may work closely with your medical providers upon request.

Finding the right fit

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that involves commitment and the building of trust. For therapy to be the most successful, we ask our clients to take an active role in treatment and be as honest and forthcoming as possible. This can be a very challenging task, so in return we must offer a safe, supportive environment and a psychologist that makes clients feel comfortable to openly share. Capitol Psychological Assessment has over 10 licensed psychologists with various specialties, backgrounds, and therapeutic approaches. This diversity in our staff allows us to fit clients with a provider that best meets their needs.
